Show Big Street Parade Convention Feature Logan, Aug. 3. One of the biggest and most stupendous street parades ever seen in Logan is going to take place during the Fourth Annual convention con-vention of the American Legion to be held here Sept. 21, 22 and 23, according accord-ing to the decision of the general committee at the regular weekly meeting held last night. This parade will be one in which the historical periods pe-riods of American life will be depicted. depict-ed. Various wards and civic bodies and posts of the Legion will be asked to enter floats showing some phase of .American history. Cash prizes will be offered for the best floats in the parade. In addition to the floats there will be Legionnaires from all over the state among the marchers. It is expected ex-pected that every post will be represented repre-sented by over half its membership and the posts of Cache county will turn out 100 per cent strong. Posts in the parade will have their colors with them and the department will present a silver service band to each post having them. This band will be attached to the staff of the post standard. The committee of the American Legion Auxiliary will be represented on every convention committee of the Legion as they hold their convention in Logan at the same time as the American Legion. It is the intention inten-tion of the Auxiliary to entertain the united delegates in much the same way that the Legion entertains the post delegates. Mrs. E. S. Budge, president of the local unit, will name various committeewomen to work along with the men. These will include in-clude representatives from the Anx-iliary Anx-iliary on entertainment, housing and reception, advertising, finance and transportation. Chairman Harold Brangahm of the entertainment committee said that the entertainment features of the convention were going to be very pretentious pre-tentious affairs. One added attraction attrac-tion is to be a sham battle representative represen-tative of real warfare in France. In connection with the sham battle will be a big display of fireworks. This will be staged on the B. Y. C. campus if arrangements can be made and the cooperation of the Federal students at the Agricultural college will be asked, as those students staged a successful suc-cessful battle last Armistice "dav.' t ' " |
