Show New Camp Site Being Advocated i - - - Gunnison's tourist camping ground, located at the southern part of the city, will, in all liklihood, he removed to a more beautiful spot and he ready for the reception of travelers by (coining spring. The sentiment against the present local ion of th" camping site is growing stronger l",n' j various reasons and the public has generally expressed itself that to in-I in-I duce travelers to stop over, a more attractive place should he provided. Vhile it is true many cross-country travelers availed themselves of the accommodations offered at the camp site during the past season, the commendations for conveniences were not many, while on the other hand many criticisms wore oll'cred. Th lack of shade proved to he the "binning" "binn-ing" objection during the hot. part, of the summer and this, added to the public place, proved a drawbeck to the site. A movement has been .started among the business men to have th;-campsite th;-campsite removed to a more attractive attrac-tive spot and several are now being considered. There are many vacant lots where there is to be found an abundance of shade and villi the water and other eonvenieces thai, could easily be added Gunnison's attraction would compare with the best in the slate. Throughout the United Spates cities of any note are featurnig camping grounds for tourists and traveler and through the activities of clubs and civic organizations the grounds are kept in an atlrotive condition and ! big returns are (lie result for the several towns and cities.' Gunnison has many places that are available for comfortable camping grounds and if they can be leased at a reasonable rea-sonable rate another asset would b.: added through the money that wouhl be spent by travelers who would slop here for the night. And, too, if an attractive at-tractive camping ground is maintained maintain-ed it is an inducement for the weary to remain over for a day or more for i a rest. j By all means let Gunnison maintain main-tain a camping ground that will be a drawing card and let us invite tourists tour-ists to stop over, rather than go b ' and stamp the city as being unable to rightly accommodate visitors. |
