Show Sportsmen Primed For Opening Day Puck hunters in Gunnison, ammunition ammu-nition dealers and gunsmiths are busy these days, polishing nuns, scll-i scll-i 1 1 j-C slii'lls and repairing the old "faithful" the duck season opens next Monday morning'. As usual the city will be forsaken as far as the male population is concerned and - there will be a bombardment along the river and favorite spots that will remind one of the war days. Every man and boy that has a gun or can borrow or beg one will be lined up at half an hour before sunrise primed and ready for the opening of the duck season for 1923. Reports from the sloughs along the river west of town are that there are plenty of game birds. Generally Gen-erally the birds have not been molested mo-lested and no complaints have thus far been made about infringers on the law about shooting ducks before the first day of October. Last season sea-son some shooting was done prior to the opening day, but threats of prosecution by members of the game protective association here checked the unlawful practice. Good sportsmen will not begin shooting before earlier than thirty minutes before the sun rises. This is one of the provisions of the game laws. A license is necessary if you would kill ducks. Don't forget the license. The bag limit is 25 do not get more than that number. It is unlawful to sell ducks, so do not attempt it if you have too many give them away to the needy. Too much care cannot be exercised in handling firearms on the opening day. Be careful and do not get the "fever" and shoot carelessly. |
