Show Big Attendance At Wasden Reunion Doccndants of the Thomas Wasden family, numbering some 150, celebrated cel-ebrated the second annual reunion of the organization in this city last I Monday and the festivities, including the selection of officers for the present pres-ent year, lasted well into the night. Never has Gunnison witnessed an affair so successful and visitors to the reunion were here from California, Idaho, Colorado and Nevada. Those from the adjoining states and those from cities from Utah, came in Saturday Sat-urday and Sunday and were the guests with friends and relatives during the visit. The reunion opened with a picnic at the Gunnison Reservoir grove. The big crowd went early and during the morning an interesting program of music, song and addresses were given. giv-en. At one o'clock an elaborate ban-' quet was served. It was not the regular picnic dinner, but consisted of hot chicken pie, hot potatoes, peas and oceans of ice cream, cake, fruits and other delicacies that go to make up a real dinner. Following dinner, year officers were selected and the regular business busi-ness of the association transacted. The new officials are as follows: ; President, Willard W. Madsen, Rex-burg, Rex-burg, Idaho; first vice-president, .Louis Wasden, Scipio, Utah; second vice-president, William England, Plain City, Utah; third vice-president, Leland Hofheins, Springville; fourth vice-president, Earl Wasden, Scipio; fifth vice-president, Ray Christensen, Gunnison; secretary-treasurer, secretary-treasurer, Kate W. Kimball, Smith-field, Smith-field, Utah; chairman temple committee, com-mittee, Mary L. Metcalf , Springville; Spring-ville; chairman amusement committee, commit-tee, Joseph F. Wasden, Smithficld; chairman refreshment committee, Laura McCurdy, Clark Utah; vice-chairman vice-chairman of the same committee, Olive W. Brazier, Salt Lake City; Historian, William Hutchison, Tab-ar, Tab-ar, Nevada. The organization was effected in June of last year and the charter membership showed an enrollment of about 80. During the first year the membership has been increased to almost al-most double and it is belived that at the next reunion there will be a noticeable no-ticeable increase in' the membership. The date for the next meeting has been set for June, 1924, and Salt Lake City has been named as the place. Those attending the reunion from oustide states were as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wasden, Long Beach, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Gibbons, Fruita, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Willard Wasden, Rexburg, Idaho; Anna W. Oakden, Twin Falls, Idaho; Ida-ho; William and Joseph Hutchinson, Tabar, Nevada. Monday's festivities were concluded conclud-ed with dancing, enjoying games and delicious refreshments at the Relief society hall. In addition to the members mem-bers of the association attending the dance, a number of invited guests were present. |
