Show O 0 CROOKED GAMES ARE NOT POSSIBLE, SAYS YOUNG One thing lias been brought out, says old Cy Young, und that is you can't make haselmll crooked. One player, or half a dozeu players, can throw a game or two or three games and then the whole world gets wise to It, no matter how clever the cheats may he in trying to cover up their dirty work. And Young goes on to make a remark tfiat will strike home to every pitcher pitch-er and every catcher when he says: "I do not think n pitcher can throw even one game without with-out falling under the suspicion of his catcher. If a catcher is honest he will know in an Inning In-ning or two whether the pitcher is trying to win or not. Besides Be-sides Jhat. the catcher will, or should, see every play made n:1 the field and if he Is any kind of n catcher he can tell mighty quick if a player Is trying to make a play or not." 0 -a |
