Show Start Paving Here Early Next Spring "In all liklihood plans for starting start-ing active work on the Gunnison Ax-tell Ax-tell government road project early in the .spring will be announced by tlir state road commission this fall. The new survey made through Axtell has been completed and the matter lias been submitted to the federal government govern-ment officials for final approval and when this is done advertising for bids for the contract will be asked for." Thus spoke H. S. Kerr, assit-ant assit-ant chief state road engineer, to a News reporter Monday of this week. Mr. Kerr was just returning from a trip to Piute and Sevier countiu; where he had been making an inspection in-spection of the projects that have been building there. The engineers completed the re-survey re-survey of the road through Axtell some six week ago and at the compilation com-pilation of the data the plans were submitted to B. J. Finch, of the bureau bu-reau of public roads. Owing to fact that there was quite a bit of opposition opposi-tion to the first survey which would route the road through the fields west of the present line and which would result in cutting Axtell off of the main highway, the matter was reconsidered and the new survey ordered. or-dered. The present survey now leads south from Axtell. The road would be continued from the main highway at the Axtell postoffice and go diisct south along the railroad track an.', across Willow creek. From thr.t point it would angle to the west and connect with the highway at a point near the county line. The new su'-vey su'-vey meets with the approval of all and it will not only make a saving to the government but will afford the citizens at Axtell the privilege of remaining on the highway. Unless something unforseen happens, hap-pens, and there is no reason to expect anything of this sort, the contract will be let and all arrangements made for starting work on the project pro-ject through this city early in the coming spring. |
