Show Mayfield Student Wins High Honor j In a spirited contest hold in the I scluiolhouse at May field last Friday ! night, Miss. Mary Olson a Isopho-nio Isopho-nio ro in High School won the modal olfoiod in oratory by Carl Frisch- knocht, principal of. the school. j This contest, being the first of its' kind ever held in Mayfield, attracted much attention. Competition was very keen in the preliminary as well as in the final contest. Miss Olsen's subject was: Loyalty." Loyal-ty." Her selection of material ar. rangement, and presentation was of a high order as was that of the other contestants. Others who won the right to participate in the finals and who did themselves honor were: Miss Helen Christiansen whose subject sub-ject was, "Mother," and Aleda Micke-alson Micke-alson who spoke on the .subject of, "Our Moral Development.'' After the contest the high school students presented two one-act plays which were very well received by the parents. Mrs. Frank Whitlock entertained Sunday evening, the event being her hirShday anniversary. Those present pres-ent were: Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Rosen-land, Rosen-land, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Oberg, Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Nielson, Mr. and Mrs. E. C. Scow, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Nielson, Mr. Conrad Scow, Rhoda Scow, Eva Whitlock, Ella Webb, Alta Scow, Ada Michealson, Francell Voorheese, Mrs. Rulon Whitlock, Angus An-gus Christiansen, Alma Whitlock, Arvon and Clifford Scow. A delicious delici-ous supper was served at 5 o'clock. Mrs. F. J. Christainesen entertained entertain-ed Thursday in honor of her birthday birth-day anniversary. Some twenty guests were present and a hot supper was served at 5 o'clock. Misses Dora and Rhoda Anderson, Marion Anderson and Albert Stenberg spent Sunday in Sterling as the guests of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Christ-ensen. Christ-ensen. Miss Francell Voorheese returned to her home in Gunnison last Monday. Mon-day. Mrs. James Jensen is in Ephraim as a guest of her sister, Mrs. Evan Larson. I |
