Show PLAIN HORSE SENSE. Better than statistics about building build-ing "booms, foreign trade, railroad expansion, is this cheering note, that at least a part of our people are getting get-ting back to sound principles and have ceased trying to borrow themselves them-selves rich. No amount of specials about prosperity being just around the corner, with hints about the country being on the eve of great industrial' activity, is worth a line in comparison to the fact that the people peo-ple have gotten over the bug of borrowing bor-rowing instead of earning and saving sav-ing money. It would seem that the people are getting back day by day and month by month to this better condition, for after all the American people are the most adaptable people peo-ple in the world, and correspondents from different sections agree that the outlook is better, and there is a cheerful tone that was lacking a short time ago. The most hopeful sign of a return to normal conditions is the fact that demand for money has not been so keen lately. The farmer has come to realize he can pay his living , expenses out of the returns from his cows, chickens and hogs, instead of borrowing money from the banks. Business Digest, U. S.
