Show WHY ROWS ARE CROOKED. A farmer by the name of VanDyke, and operating a ranch in the valley, is fond of potatoes. Accordingly he planted some. Before planting, however, how-ever, he consulted "wise-heads," and the advice was given to plant the tubers in the dark of the moon. One night later the moon had made its disappearance dis-appearance in the western horizon, VanDyke stole forth and planted the spuds. Of course they came up, but in such a way that irrigation and cultivation cul-tivation is out of the question. The spud rows have the appearance of having been out the night before, and VanDyke avers that in the dark of the moon is not the proper time to plant potatoes. |
