Show Cement Sidewalks Undergoing Repair If the present tests now being made on the inferior sidewalks in Gunnison prove a success, it is plan- j ned to carry the work further and j by fall all the sidewalks that went bad will be repaired and put in first-class shape. L. M. Peterson, with the Green Construction company com-pany is here from Richfield and work has been started on a plan of resurfacing re-surfacing the parts that are bad. Mr. Peterson will spend a week in Gunnison at present and will work out a plan to repair the walks. In many instances the cemet walks laid by both the Green company and Johnson & Gillispie, are inferior and the reason is given that either inferior in-ferior material was used or the walks were given improper care at the time they were laid. For many feet and in many parts of the city the surface crumbles and is far from being what the taxpayers contracted contract-ed for. Officials of the city have endeavored en-deavored for some time to have the contractors make good, but for some reason the work has been delayed. The city officials, however, are determined de-termined to satisfy the taxpayers and property owners and to this end they will insist that the contractors make good the inferior work. Johnson & Gillispie, who held the contract for -paving district number 2, have signified a willingness to make good and to this end instructed instruct-ed Mayor Jones that funds would be forwarded to care for the work. |
