A call for specimens of all kinds of land and water life, of Utah is being sent out among the people of the state by Professor Harold Har-old R. Ilagnn, head of the biological department of the l"nivrsi:y of I tab. He expects to make a thorough study of the land and water life of Utah in the near future by means of a state biological survey. Railroad shop men of Salt Lake, approximately 1000 in all, are on strike. There was no parade, no demonstration or disturbance and, apparently, the men who are on strike and the superintendents and general foremen, whom they left in the shops without men, are on the best of terms The strike order came from headquarters head-quarters and it was obeyed to the letter by 100 per cent of the local shopmen. Ogden James Pingree, former president pres-ident nnd director of seven banks in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming and associated associ-ated with packing, cement, sugar and numerous other industrial enterprises, indicted by the federal grand jury at Salt Lake, was served with a warrant of arrest. He was Immediately taken before United States Commissioner Thomas J. Mnginnis, who fixed the bond at $5000, which was furnished and Pingree was released. Salt Lake. Dr. C. N. Jensen, state superintendent of public instruction, has been elected vice president of th National Education association. Provo. The arrangements for the Arpine summer school, which is to be held on Mount Timpanogos for five weeks beginning July 17, are practically prac-tically complete. Four courses in nature na-ture study, biology nnd geology will be given during the five weeks. Fifty men only will be registered for the courses. These men may take cooking cook-ing utensils with them and board themselves, or they may rent a tent and board at the cafeteria. Brigham City. On a 30,000-mile walking walk-ing trip to forty-eight states, Mexico and Canada, Bernard Mguler of New Tork City arrived in Salt Lake after liavlng completed half of hie journey.
