Show Society j The Social Circle club, with the husbands as the honor guests, gave a delightful party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ray B. Metcalf last Friday evening. The early part of the evening was spent at Progressive Progres-sive Five Hundred, and at 10:30 the lady members, accompanied by their husbands, adjourned to the Elite cafe, where a delicious luncheon was served. Following tho lunch, cards were resumed at the Metcalf home and continued until 12 o'clock. The winners in the contest at cards were Mrs. C. N. Jensen for the ladies' prize, while the gentleman's prize was won by J. E. Metcalf. Complimentary to Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Edwards, who left the first of this week to make their home In California, some thirty-five friends gathered at the Edwards home last Friday evening and tendered a farewell fare-well party. A most enjoyable evening eve-ning was spent by those present. Several Sev-eral solos by Mrs. Emily Knighton and duets by Mesdames Tilvey and Voorhees, together with instrumental music, tended to make the affair (highly enjoyable. The farewell was in the way of a surprise and the. guests each carried a delicious lunch which was served at 11:30 The meetings of the Bonne Foi and (Social Cricle clubs, which were scheduled sched-uled for this week have been postponed post-poned until the coming week. This move was taken for the reason that the meeting days came on Thanksgiving Thanksgiv-ing day. Generally speaking, family fam-ily dinner parties were arranged as an observance of the day and the usual meetings were adjourned for this week. o The first meeting of the Tuesday Evening Card club for the coming winter was held at the home of Mrs. J. A. Hagan Thursday evening of last week. The opening session proved one of much interest and the club members have planned for ' many sessions this winter, meeting each week. Five tables of Progressive Five Hundred were played at the home of Mrs. Hagan and prizes were awarded to Mrs. J. E. Metcalf and J. M. Knighton. The hostess served a delicious luncheon at 10 o'clock. The meeting night of the club has been changed from Tuesday until Saturday. At a recent business session ses-sion officers for the year were named and Mrs. Hagan is the new president, presi-dent, while Mrs. H. W. Cherry has been selected as treasurer and secretary. secre-tary. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Gribblo were voted members of the club t-fill t-fill the vacancy made by the retire ment of Mr. and Mrs. R.
