Show School Building Formally Dedicated Mayfield's new $30,000 school building, one of the classiest and most modern of its kind in Southern Utah, was formally dedicated yesterday. yester-day. The dedicatory exercises started start-ed in the morning at 10:30 and concluded con-cluded at midnight at the close of the big dance. Never in the history of May lied have the citizens witnessed wit-nessed a more successful affair and it is estimated that fully 500 students stud-ents and parents and visiotrs attended attend-ed the affair. A splendid program was arranged for the morning. The dedicatory address, ad-dress, music and speeches kept the vast ' crowd entertained until one o'clock when adjournment was taken for a dandy dinner. It was 2:30 when all appetites had been apeascd and immediately the children enjoyed dancing from 3 to 5. On of the features of the encter-tainment encter-tainment was a basketball game between be-tween the Maylield team and a team from Manti. It was a hard fought contest and Manti carried off the laurelus by defeating Maylield. ,The big dance at night proved highly successful from every standpoint. stand-point. Fully 500 were present and the hall was crowded to capacity. But all joined in the spirit and the dance and dedication were voted a grand success. In addition the school board members mem-bers of the South Sanpete distric ., President L. R. Anderson and Judg Dilworlh Wooly of Manti, and other prominent personages were present. The ceremonies were under the supervision of J. N. Christiansen, school board member of the Mayfield-Sterling Mayfield-Sterling district. The new school building is1 one that the citizens of Mayfield can justly be proud. It is iinpo.sing and attractive and is modern throughout. There are six class rooms in Unbuilding, Un-building, besides an office, a large, gymnasium, shower baths for the girls and boys, and toilets. The heating heat-ing and ventilating systems installed in the new structure are the very latest and the tests given thus far are proving highly satisfactory. With and idea to further beautifying beautify-ing the school plans are under way to improve the grounds surrounding the new building. Lawns and trees will be planted and other additions made that will place the school at Mayfield with the best and most attractive at-tractive in the state. |
