Show Speckled Beauties Planted In Streams Through the activities of the Gunnison Gun-nison Valley Fish and Game Protective Protec-tive association, Nine Mile reservoir and the town reservoir in Twelve Mile canyon have been supplied with several sev-eral thousand "speckled beauties" of the rainbow variety. The consignment consign-ment was received last Wednesday evening and came from the state fish hatchery at Springville, the (shipment (ship-ment being in charge of Deputy Game Commissioner Archibald. Immediately on the arrival of the consignment, Messrs. Ira Overfelt, C. M. Edwards, Arthur John and Oscar Anderson took about 6,000 to the Nine Mile reservoir, and some 0,000 were taken to the Town Reservoir in Twelve Mile canyon by L. Ludvig-son Ludvig-son and Harry Peterson. This shipment of rainbow trout, or any other variety of game fish, is the first that has been received here for many years. Through lack of interest, in-terest, perhaps, and the disregard of the law by many has resulted in depleting de-pleting tho Ftreams so that fishing has been poor in the immediate vicinity. vi-cinity. Secretary Edwards, of the Game Protective association here, stated that other shipments would more than likely be coming in as a requisition requisi-tion for 200,000 had been mado to the state hatchery. If the officials of the association here carry out the plans already made and should the state supply the fish asked for, the next few years will see the streams again alive with the festive trout. |
