Show D. & R. G. Plans Road Extenison Locating Engineer Furman and General Roadmaster J. C. McMahon of the Denver & Rio Grande railroad arrived in Salina last night, and this morning with a force tf twenty men started work rebuilding the grade up Salina canyon. It is understood that the old grade will be followed most of the way, although, al-though, a slight deviation might be necessary in order to maintain the lowest possible grade. The destination destina-tion of the proposed branch is no' given out, but rumors are to the effect ef-fect that the main objective is to cohnect with the main line of the Rio Grande at Green River. We are informed from reliable sources that this sudden activity of the Rio Grande will in no way alter! the plans -of the Utah Central railroad rail-road and should the latter commence! building at once, Salina would enjoy j the handling of an immense payroll! the coming summer. Let us hope that both lines will carry out their i construrtion program. Salina Sun.! - |
