Show SCENIC CANYON TO BE OPENED Through the efforts of the officials of the Manti Forest reserve and the citizens of Gunnison, Mayfield. Cen-terfield Cen-terfield and the entire valley, one of the grandest and most attractive and picturesque bits of mountain scenery scen-ery is to be opened up. The beauty spot is none other than the famous Twelve Mile canyon in the mountains moun-tains just east of Gunnison. The movement was started by the forest service when it was agreed to go 5 0-5 0 with the citizens in repairing re-pairing the road that the upper canyon can-yon might be accessible to pleasure seekers. It is proosed to continue the work now under way, to a point near the old mill, where the canyon broadens out and where some of the most attractive scenery and wooded sections are to be found in the entire en-tire state. At the present time some fifteen men and several teams are at work grading and widening the road and when the work is complete the way can be easily negotiated by automobiles. au-tomobiles. More than fifteen years ago the road leading to the canyon was abandoned and during that time the highway had become impassable. The forest officials are willing to spend $1000 for the repairing of the road, providing the citizens of tba towns of the valley will subscribe an equal amount. It is one of the best movements yet started and everyone favoring the opening of one of the best camping places and one of the grandest spots in Utah, should subscribe sub-scribe to help put the road in the best of shape.
