Show Sugar Factory Completes Successful Campaign New Valley Industry Makes Record for Initial RunFarmers Urged To Increase Acreage. Tomorrow night the sugar-end at the Gunnison Valley Sugar factory will have its final clean-up for the 1919 campaign, and with the closing of the big factory, marks the successful success-ful opening and closing of the greatest great-est industry ever instituted in the valley for the season. Looking forward for-ward to the campaign of 19 20 the management of the factory is decidedly decid-edly optimistic and a greater and bigger run is expected as a result of building the factory here. The last of the beet crop was sliced at the factory last Sunday night and during this week the time has been devoted to running out the sugar. "This season's campaign was fully up to what we expected," said Superintendent Super-intendent Hinze yesterday. "01 course we were ' somewhat disappointed disap-pointed as to the acreage of beets that were to be planted this season and for this reason our output wan lower than we first counted on. How ever, I look for better conditions next year and with more beets the more money will be distributed among thi farmers of the valley. During the time the factory was running and counting the money paid to the beet growers, fully a quarter of a million dollars was distributed about the valley val-ley by tho sugar company. Next season, sea-son, providing sufficient acreage is planted, this amount will be more than doubled. The farmers have the factory here and it will prove one of the greatest industries in the south part of the state if properly supported. support-ed. What we must have is beets." Sugar shipments from the factory has been a regular daily feature for several days past and the final shipments ship-ments will be loaded on the cars tomorrow to-morrow night or just as soon as the sugar is sacked. During this week some 15,000 bags have been shipped and tomorrow the final consignment will be sent on its way to the wholesale whole-sale markets. |
