Duffin of Provo, one of? Utah county's most successful horticulturists, horticultur-ists, is canvassing in Gunnison and vicinity for the Teppenish nursery of Yakima valley, state of Washington, His observation here is that this locality lo-cality grows as fine a specimen of apples as anyone could ask for, but for want of proper attention in their cultivation the fruit is not a commercial commer-cial attraction. He rightly states that to grow a good commercial apple one must cultivate the orchard instead in-stead of letting it grow rank. Mr. Duffin is a nephew of Mrs. Duffin residing re-siding in this city. He is a man of wide experience,, having spent over thirty years as a missionary pioneering pioneer-ing iu Arizona and Mexico, ten years of this time being among the Laman-ites Laman-ites in the souttx, Following this he devoted-four years proselyting for the L. D. S. church in Jackson county, coun-ty, Missouri, having reopened that mission in 1896. For a number of years Mr. Duffin has given alnvost exclusive ex-clusive attention to fruit growing. |
