Mr. Jeppson was loading rock in the old creek bottom near the B. C. Roller Mills. The horses, which were standing at the foot of a steep 1 hill, saw a large rock coming down the hill. To avoid being struck, i they sprang forward and started out on a lively run, scattering pieeeti of the wagon along their "route. Mr. Jeppson tried but was unable . to overtake them. The horses, still hauling the wagon, -climbed up the steep embankment of the poor house and trotted a-Jong a-Jong jat the machine shop. Near jliero they met an obstruction which started them down Forest Street at A furious rate. Near O, Parson's jplaee they collided with a tree ami were roughly stopped. One of the animals, u colt valued at $100, was thrown and got one hip badly maheil. It will proba nly die. Aside from that, tho damage was not great. |
