Show TWO BROTHERS ROB BANK. Whitney Boys Hold Up Cashier and Half a Dozen Depositors at Coke-vi Coke-vi lie, Wyoming. Cokeville, Wyo. Hugh and Charles Whitney, notorious desperadoes of this region, robbed the state bank o Cokeville and half a dozen depositors at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon and escaped to the mountains with several sev-eral thousand dollars. Posses are In pursuit. Hugh Whitney, the elder of the brothers, shot and killed Conductor William Kidd on an Oregon , Short Line train four months ago when a deputy sheriff attempted to arrest him and wounded four others in the course of a desperate fight across Idaho and Wyoming. Rewards aggregating many thousands of dollars were placed on his head and he had been sought by Pinkerton detectives in every part of the west. The brothers entered the bank here at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon, held up Cashier A. D. Noblitt and remained for half an hour, robbing every depositor de-positor who entered the bank up to the closing hour. Then locking their, victims in the vault, they left the bank and ran three-quarters of a mile across the fields to where they had left their horses, stolen the previous day, and rode hard up Smithfork canyon. |
