Show nit he will find it impossible to. make he people of Utah believe tliat iVilliaui f pry is a grafter and a felon. WILLIAM SPRY. The lat week of the campaigu has developed a. concerted attack from j the D.-mccrats aud the-Bull Moose upon Governor Spry because of his handling of the state funds. Not daring to make any direct sharges of mismandgenieut, the ene uiies of decent men have directed their efforts toward tearing down the character of this man by inueudo and by misstateci, ent of well known facts. For example they charge that during dur-ing his administration he .has mort griged the people of the stale for i'"2, 010,000 ; which is more than the other governors of Utah L;.,ave doue combined ; and that he has permitted this money to lie idle in the favored banks without interest. It is true that tho I:;nt legislature authorized the issuance of bouds for the erection of a state capitol and that active construction of the capitol Duiioiug uas not; ueen commecceu But the fict is that the state cipi'ol bouds have uot yet been issued aud the money is uot tying idle iu the favored fa-vored bauks or at all. It is true that the legislature authorized author-ized the issuauoe of bonds for the construction of buildings at the Uui-versit Uui-versit of Utah aud the Agricultural College; buttl at money has been aud is being used Ice the purpose for which it was borrowed. The people will certainly riuil nothing to criticize in the acts of the executive iu approving approv-ing the bills for these worthy purposes. pur-poses. It is true that he signed the bill authoriz'tig the issuance of bouds for the building cf good roads in the counties outside of Salt Lake county aud that these bonds have been sold. But the money has nearly all been used for the purpose for which it was appropriated, aud Ibe people of the state take pride in the good roads that are being constructed .from, one end of the state to the other. The people are not going to turn down the Governor for his stand iu behalf of good roads for the cow counties. The people of the state of Utah, througli their members to the legislature legisla-ture , authorized every oue of tha bond issues and the people should stand back of the action cf their rep-repeutatives rep-repeutatives iu these mhtters. The Governor has not profited oua cent from the use of state funds. 'The Democrats aud.tha Bull Moosa dare uot say that he has so profited But by misstatement of the above f.icts, they would lead you to infer that i here has beeu somethiug crooked iu his conduct of the public business. Governor Spry is too well kutv.vu to tho people of the 6tate for such cow ard ly attacks to have auy serious of feet upon the vote that will be cast for him. He was the unanimous choice of all factions of the party for reuouiiuatiim. So stioug h;ih the demand de-mand from all prls of the. slate for Spry that no ono else stood any chiuoe whatever for the nomination Hg-utibt him.
