There is considerable work done on our streets this spring in the shape of draining, which will do a great deal of good towards improving improv-ing the place. This afternoon a firo broke out in the roof of the school house. The cause of the fire is unknown, but;t is supposed was caused from the chimney. A number of men and boys were soon on the premises : with buckets, barrels, horses, ladders lad-ders and other implements and succeeded in stopping the fire with but a small hole burned in the roof. Some damage was done in getting at the fire through the ceiling. There was a high wind blowing but the fire was put out just in time. It is covered by insurance.
