The recent strike now adjusted in the mining district there afforded Mr. aud Mrs. Soreuson the opportunity of again seeing their home town here. t tt K The Cricket club on Sunday evening even-ing gave J. B. Jensen a genuine surprise. A company of eighteen gathered at his home and unceremoniously uncere-moniously took possession uutil the evening was far spent, cards beiug indulged and a bounteous luncheon served. All had a good time. ft R Hyrum Christenson, who conducts a grocery at Salt Lake, was a Gunnison Gunni-son visitor fundiiy and Monday a guest at the home of his sister, Mrs. Nephi Gledhill. He resided when yet a boy iu Guonison and at Centerfield, this being bis third visit here since leaving seventeen years pgo. Sylvester Pierce and wife recently spent a short visit at Salt Lake. Mr. Pierce had been making all preparation prepara-tion to leave this fall on a mission for the Mormon church and took occasion while in the city to be examined as to his health. It was found he had chronic appendicitis and was advised to undergo an operation before going. go-ing. A temporary release for that purpose and until hi3 health will per mit has been granted Mr. Pierce. H tt Mrs. Laura Hagan entertained the Self Culture club Wednesday aftei-noon aftei-noon last, with Mesdames J. M. Knighton, Joseph Christenson , Ted Smith and Terrance Kearns special "guests. The club has under way the making up of Christmas presents and while busy finger? moved swiftly at the work each member contributed an inspiring sentiment. Mrs. Hagan Ha-gan served her company after the proceedings to a choicn luncheon. W R W Miss Leola Childs and Miss Babe Kearns in turn eutertaiued, the latter on Wednesday evening, the girls of the T T D B. The usual fancy needlework formed the instructive procedure, followed by the proverb ial luncheon. Miss Winder and Miss Hubbard have joined rank with this circle of girls who will soon give the public some entertainment in basket ball. k m Miss Gladys Kearns was the recipient recip-ient of a pleasaut surprise Tuesday evening from sixteen of her young friends. The occasion was Miss Kearns' seventeenth birthday anni versary. Ttie evening waspleasnut-ly waspleasnut-ly enjoyed with a variety of games, while picnic had not the least place. Misses Edna Gledbill, Ella Jdnseu, Vera Jensen, Lurene Kearns, Ethel Kearns, Mabel Kearns, Luella Anderson, An-derson, Lily Johnson, and Messrs Leo Andarson, Levi Lund, Benuie Roper, Harold Christfnsou, Ruland Nelson aud Jams Jensen comprised the gay callers on Miss Kear. b.
