Show CENTERFIELD A citizens meeting wai held in the tithing office Jan. 14, for tho purpose of considering the matter of a public school building, and a committee- was appointed to meet with a eimilar committee com-mittee from Gunnison. The commit tees met Jan. 20, and it was there decided de-cided that a central school building should be erected. Another meeting was held on the 23rd, at which County Supt A IP. Miner, Prin. John Beal and Joseph Christenson were present, and g-ive some very interesting talks upon centralizing the school Bjstem, It is the general belief that a central achocl building" is whit we Dead if location can be decided upon by both Centerfiald and Gunnison. I . Tuesday evening of last week a luasa meeting was called for the purpose pur-pose of taking some steps to boost CentHrfield and surrounding country. A Commercial club was organized with Geo. Peterson as president; E. H. Bardsley, W. C. ChrisUuson as secretaries ; Christian Sorenson as treasurer. The elub starts out with a membership of fifteen of the leading lead-ing citizens. The first business of the olub was to appoint a committee to take up the matter of having a road opened up weBt across Sevier river into Millard county. A committee wpb also appointed ap-pointed to secure a location for a cemetery. Another mooting of the club will be held n Jan. 28, when tho by-laws and constitution will be adopted and tne organization completed. It must not be overlooked to give a word of praise to Mr. Ockermau who ia erecting the new opera house If tho weather permits the building will bo ready for use by Feb. 22, next. It now remains with the people wbetue. or not they will make a town by opening their land for si reefs aud blooks, in order that we may get a larger population. |
