Minnie C. Taylor gave the welcome address. A dance in the opera house formed enjoyment for the evening. R R R Mrs Belle Sorensou waa hostess at her home for a recent meetiug of the Self Culture club, serving a delicious luncheon, assisted by Mrs Linda Jensen, Jen-sen, after the proceodiqgs. Deceased had reached nearly his seventysixth year and passed away without warning. warn-ing. Knighton entertained enter-tained a number of lady friends in honor of her birthday, which occur ed ou the 15th. Refreshments were served and a pleasant afternoon had. Mrs. Knighton was presented by her guests, with a pretty hand satchel. Present were Mesdames Michael Jensen, Jen-sen, Magda States, J J Pickett, Yetta Sorenson, J A Tuft, John Larson, X F Kearns and John A Larson, aud Mr and Mrs L H Wilson. Jt R R A very pretty affair of the week was the social on Friday evening at the home of Mrs. C M Madsen, where the Self Culture club gave a St. Patrick party. The decorations and other details were all suggestive of the Emerald Isle. Various games and an Irish romance were features of the evening aside from the sumptuous sump-tuous luncheon. C N Jensen aDd others gave amusing toasts. Prizes were awarded for beBt guessing, to Dr and Mrs Hagan, Linda Jensen, Allie Metcalf and Niel Sorenson, LOCAL ITEMS. In this city at the home of her sister, Mrs. Nephi Gledhill, a fine ten pound boy was born to Mrs. Hannah CbristenBon Luudberg of Salt Lake City, ou Monday, March 18. The company played for the benefit of Sunday school work, going to Center-field Center-field last night and Saturday they go to Mayfield. We have heard a number of favorable comments and there seems to be general satisfaction. R R R Mrs. Hans Jensen, entertained at her home last Sunday a number of her friendg, commemorative of her birthday. Besides members of the family there were present IVrs. Johanna Christenson, the Simonsen family and Sophus Christensen. The latter and Mr. Simonsen furnished appropriate musical selections and the company were otherwise pleasantly pleas-antly entertained. R R R "The Missouri Girl" was far the best theatrical presentation that haa visited this city during the season, The company is cosmopolitan and open an engagement at the Colonial a Salt Lake npxt Sunday. Gunuiaon was highly fortunate in securing this play, which is a good one for driving away "the blues." Let Manager Peterson take a tumble and hunt us some more of the kind. R R R . W. H.
