Show Appointed Day of Judgment. A horse-dealer in an English town had lent a horse to a solicitor, who killed the animal through bad usage. The dealer insisted on payment, and the lawyer, refusing cash, said ha would give a trill for the amount, but T. must be at a long date. The lawyer law-yer drew a promissory note, making it payable on the day of judgment. An action was raised, and the lawyer Bsked the sheriff to look at the bill. Having done so, the sheriff replied: "This is the day of judgment, I decree ou to pay tomorrow." |
