Show Fayette. Oct. 16 Last week at their home Mr. and Mrs. William Duffiu entertained in honor of their eldest son, Willie, who attained his majority on the 9th iust. A delious supper was served and the guests all were treated royally by the host and bosiess. Threshing is now in full Bwing, with four machines emptyiug to the farmers' sacks the golden seed for which this part of the valley is noted. However, some disappointment will be felt by reason of the early frost affecting af-fecting parts of the alfalfa fields. The Socialists and the Republicans each held a rally here Saturday last, one in the meetinghouse and the other in the schoolhouse. Both meetings meet-ings were attended well, the first named addressed by the state organizer, organ-izer, Mr. Smith, aud the latter by Messrs. J. Cherry and D. Woolley SCHOOL NEWS. Given but five minutes preparatior of twenty words a teBt in spelling bj the seventh and eightht grades gave the pleasing result here following ; One student received 95 per cent ; two received 80 percent; three received 75 per cent. The full amount of energy for a twenty-four hours preparation pre-paration does not generelly give any better result. The parents are showing excellent interest by keeping their children at school, the record showing a daily attendance of 98 per cent for the mouth. By visiting the school occasionally occa-sionally the parents could add even more stiniulous. |
