Show eastern utah cattle growers seven members of the green river cattle growers association motored to moab saturday afternoon sept 10 to meet at the grand county courthouse with the grand county cattle and horse growers ass a the two groups met for the purpose of completing a merger of the two organizations which had been begun earlier in the year the name chosen for the new organization growing out of the two united groups is eastern utah cattle growers association members living in green river who attended the merger meeting were mr air and mrs arthur ekker alfred king wayne smith tom W harold and alton halverson Hal versan cecil thompson of moab conduct ed the merger meeting at which the constitution and the bylaws of the new group was read election of new officers also took place it is planned to continue the annual green river cowboys day held in the spring they also decided that the annual election meeting will take place on the first friday of septem ber each year alfred king of green river was elected president of the new group lester taylor of moab was chosen as the vice president and mrs hazel ekker as the secretary and treasurer A board of directors made up of the officers of the old groups was created members of the board ioard are harold halverson chad moors and arthur ekker all of green river billy cunningham of cisco lester taylor of moab and jim mcpherson of castleton the board of directors will have its ils next meeting on sept 25 melon n day at 10 00 A M at the home of mr and mrs arthur ekker in green river the now defunct green river cat tie he growers had been organized in 1942 and was therefore several years older than the grand county bation said mrs ekker the grand county cattle and horse growers been organized in 1947 she said |
