Show I Saunterings A very large and pretty home wedding of the H week was that of Miss Myrtle McEvoy and Ber- M nard Rohlfing at the McEvoy home Wednesday M evening. Miss Edna Shepherd and Miss Lou Hays H attended the bride, and Clyde McEvoy was best H man. A reception followed the ceremony at M which Mrs. A. Cunningham, and Mrs. A. E. Mar- M getts assisted in receiving. Mr. and Mrs. Itohl- M ling left later for a short wedding trip, and will M make their home in Nevada later. H M The first battalion of the Twentieth regi- H ment. arrived Wednesday and the Post is full to H overflowing. The regiment is under command H of Major Burnham who is already well known H locally through his having been stationed at B Fort Douglas several years ago, and with him H Wednesday came Lieutenants Wrightson and H Bowen and Captain Chapman, the ranking cap- H tain of the regiment. Four or five other officers H were with the battalion and the rest will arrive H within the next three weeks. Major and Mrs. H Burnha- staying with Major and Mrs. Ar- H rasmith. . Chapman is a sister of Captain H Garrison .u Jaskey, the adjutant of the Fif- H teenth. The officers of the latter regiment and H their wives are preparfng as rapidly as possible H for their departure from the post November sec- H ond. Many of the ladies will leave for San Fran- M cisco before that date. M Town Topics notes that the Lawrence Town- M sends, formerly of Salt Lake, are back in Wash- M ington from their summer at Murray Bay that M 1b Mr. Townsend and Yvonne are, Mrs. Townsend B being still in Europe, and their son, who is a M passed midshipman in the navy, is with his ship. M All of her mother's admirers insist that Yvonne H will never be as attractive as that fascinating H lady, but she is nevertheless the life of evnry M place she visits and keeps things bubbling in M her vicinity. Her father dotes on her and is es- H pecially proud of her musical talents. As usual, H Mrs. Townsend, mere, has been much feted on B the other side and will come back to Washington B with pleasant memories. H v H Very beautiful was the wedding of Miss H Louise Osborne, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. H Osborne, and Jerome Fargo Sears of Buffalo, H New York, which took place at St. Mark's Ca- H thedral Thursday at high noon. Miss Isabel Os- H borne, a sister of the bride, attended her as maid H of honor, while Miss Alvina Eisenmann of San H Francisco and Miss Amy Osborne were the brides- H maids. Winthrop Sears, the bridegroom's H brother, acted as his best man, and Lieutenants Hj Garcy and Santschi of the Fifieenth infantry were H the ushers. An elaborate wedding breakfast was H served at the Osborne home onEast First South street immediately after the ceremony. Both church and home were beautifully decorated and Bishop Spalding and Dean Colladay officiated at the ceremony. Among the affairs at which Mrs. E. W. Wilson Wil-son of San Francisco has been the honored guest this week, was the luncheon given in her honor Tuesday afternoon by Mrs. Thomas Marioneaux and Mrs. George W. Snow at the home of the former. The guests included Mrs. W. H. Mc-Intyre, Mc-Intyre, Mrs. George A. Snow, Mrs. Glen Miller, Mrs. Harry M. Fennemore, Mrs. Howard S. Stowe, Mrs. J. R. Letcher, Mrs. J. C. Hanchett, Mrs. W. F. Adams and Mrs Win, H. Dale Mrs. Elmer E. Darling entertained Tuesday afternoon at her home at bridge, followed by a tea. In compliment of her guest, Mrs. L. Friedland-er, Friedland-er, of Seattle, Mrs. L. Singerman entertained Tuesday. Senator and Mrs. Reed Smoot have issued invitations in-vitations for a reception and dance to be held at the Hotel Utah Wednesday evening of next week. A tea of the early week will be that given by Miss Emma Quigley Tuesday afternoon at the Quigley home on East Temple street. For Mrs. Wll T. Dinwoodey of Napa, California, Cali-fornia, who is here as her guest, Mrs. Leroy G. Dinwoodey entertained at a luncheon Tuesday with covers laid for ten. Beautifully appointed and very gay, the party given by Mr. and Mrs. Louis Simon for their daughter, Miss Irene, at the Utah Hotel Monday evening, was the largest affair the first few nights of the week had to offer. Dancing followed fol-lowed the reception and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Simon Si-mon assisted in receiving the guests. In honor of Miss Louise Osborne, whose wedding wed-ding occurred Thursday at noon, the Misses Alice and Mary Wall entertained at a bridal tea and linen shower Monday afternoon at the Wall home. The many friends of Doctor Samuel G. Paul, health commissioner of Salt Lake, learned with interest of his marriage Wednesday, in Ely, Ne vada, to Miss Ella "Napier. The engagement had been rumored, but a good many of the doctor's friends were not aware of the proximity of the wedding. Few public officials have ever achieved so great a degree of popularity in so short a time as has Doctor Paul. Mrs. Paul is a South rs em girl, having spent most of her life in Flor- I ida. She has had charge of the Steptoe Hos- 1 pital in Ely for several months, preceding which she was at St. Mark's hospital in Salt Lake. It was there Doctor Paul met her, as he is on the staff of physicians at that hospital. After a short wedding trip Doctor and Mrs. Paul will . return to Salt Lake. I I Mrs. Robert W. Sloan has returned fiom a I month's visit in the east. She visited friends in Chicago and her mother, Mrs. Jennie Webb in Harrison, Ohio. Mr. and Mrs. Sloan are at home at 551 Bast South Temple street. t Mrs. C .ester N. Sutton has returned to Salt I Lake to main for a fortnight before going ea3t I for her season's vaudeville engagement. I The Buskins have elected officers as follows: Lester D. I id I Mrs. C. A. Gillette entertained at her apart ments in the Pauline Wednesday at the third of a series of informal bridge teas. An interesting wedding of Wednesday even- I ing was that of Miss Vera Louise Lambourne I and Louis H. Thorup, which took place at the J Lambourne home on F street. The different committees appointed to arrange ar-range for the annual Charity ball to be given at the Utah on November second are working hard to make the affair a success. |
