Show Death Of John B. Read H JOHN B. READ, who was born and grew up in H this city, died in San Diego, Cal.. a week ago H today and was buried from the home of his H brother, Mr. Charles Read, in this city on Thurs- H H He grew up here in the same class as ex- H Governor Heber M. Wells, Professor ' Toronto, H Professor Kingsbury and others. Ho wont from M here to Butte, Montana, commenced work as a H reporter on the Inter-Mountain, was soon trans- M ferred to the editorship and for nearly twenty H years remained in the same place and built up H for himself a great name as a journalist. His H brother editors in Montana all acknowledged his H versatile and great abilities, and ho has more H mourners in Montana than in any other place. M He was very proud of Montana and her peop'o M and tried to return to tho state all thei apprecia- H tion he received there. Some seven or eight H years ago he was seized by an insidious disease M which could nof be arrested. He was for years H a great sufferer, but he made no plaint and a H week ago death brought him the rest he coveted. IB Very sorrowfully his friends here bore him to fifl his grave and bade him their last farewells, with jH prayers that his sleep might be sweet. H |
