Show I . About the saddest looking class of citizens among our noble population are the Gentiles who this year remained with the Republican organization or-ganization purely for strategic purposes. The names of a few of them really ought to be published, pub-lished, but their fate seems to lie sufficiently hard as it stands. Now that Mr. Smoot, whom they looked upon as omnipotent, has been repudiated by his own party and his own people, many of the aforesaid Gentiles are now giving out the impression im-pression that their sympathies always were with the American party, but they are not deceiving anybody, as their standing ha? been quite thoroughly thor-oughly tabulated. Deathbed repentance might be a real good tonic for them, but it fails to give them any standing with the victorious party. |
