Be it ordained by tho City Council df Salt Lake City, Utah: Section 1. That Section 222 of tho - Revised Ordinances of Salt Lake City, of 1903, bo, and tho same hereby Is amended and re-enacted so as to road as follows: Section 222. Fire Department. Organization. Or-ganization. The Fire Department of Salt Lake City shall consist of the following fol-lowing officers and firemen: One cliief of department; one assistant assist-ant chief of department, 'six captains; Ave lieutenants; five engineers; ono superintendent su-perintendent of fire alarms; ono secretary, secre-tary, and forty-four men; Provided, that ono of said captains, and ono of said lieutenants, and eleven of said men shall not bo appointed until Number Num-ber Five Engine House Is completed and ready for occupancy. Section 2. All ordinances and part's df ordinances In conflict herewith are i hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. Section 3. This ordinance shall tako oifect upon approval. An ordinanco declaring cortaln alleys al-leys nuisances, directing thorn to bo paved, guttered and curbed, imposing a fine for failure,' and for abatomoni of tho same as nuisances. Be it ordained by tho City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah: Section 1. That all private alleys between tho west side of "West Temple street and tho oast sldo of State street, and tho north side of East South Temple Tem-ple street and tho south sldo of ;Thlrd South street, are, and each of them heroby Is declared to bo detrimental to tho health, poace and comfort of tho Inhabitants of this city, and as such each of them is horoby declared to bo a nuisance. Section 2. That all private alloys within tho boundaries named in Section Sec-tion 1 of this ordinance- shall, on or beforo September 1, 1906, bo paved, guttered and curbed In such a manner and of such material as shall bo approved ap-proved by the City Engineer of this city. Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation, cor-poration, owner or owner of a private alloy or of private alloys In tho district I mentioned In Section 1 hereof who shall fail to comply with tho provisions of Section 2 of this ordinanco shall be doomed guilty of a mlsdemonnor. and, t upon conviction thereof, shall bo fined in any sum not exceeding two hundred ($200.00) dollars, or bo imprisonod In tho city jail not moro than sixty (60) days, or bo punished by both such lino and lmprlsonmont, and a separate of-fonso of-fonso shall bo doomed to bo committed ovory ton days during which such por-son, por-son, firm or corporation shall fail to comply with tho provisions of said Section 2 of this ordinanco. Section 4. Nothing heroin contained shall bo construed to prevent tho City Council of this city from abating or ordering tho abating of any or the nuisances declared In Section 1 hereof. Soctlon 5. Tho following amounts shall be and are heroby established as tho quarterly charge for licenses under tho provisions of this ordinanco, tb-wlt: As a manufacturer $150.00 As a retail dealer 300.00 As a wholesale dealer (exclusively) (exclus-ively) 100.00 As a. druggist 100.00 All said sums shall bo payablo strictly In .advance; provided, that in no case shall any payment made or license li-cense Issued entitle tho licensee to conduct con-duct moro than ono place of business thereunder. Thoro shall bo and thoro are horoby established 'within tho limits of Salt Lako City, two garbage districts, to bo known and designated as Garbage District No. 1, and Garbage District No. Tho Board of Health is heroby em-powerod em-powerod to employ not exceeding thlr-teen thlr-teen (13) men, each with team and wagon, to remove garbage from sa'ld districts, at an expense not exceeding BV four ($4.00) per day each, for every day actually employed at such work.
