Show W. D. Livingston of Manti, who used to out-Herod out-Herod Herod ii. his denunciantion of every body who wouldn't submit to Smoot domination can be counted henceforth as an anti-Smoot man unless he is placated. He aspired to be district attorney in place of Elder Hyrum E. Booth and was turned down because the machine felt that the place should go to one who was, nominally at least, a I Gentile. Livingston was told cold-bloodedly that he couldn't have the place because he was a Mormon. His opportunity for revenge came Tuesday, when the state committee met. It was he who engineered the resolution through the committee condemning the Inter-Mormon Republican the self-styled organ of the Republican party for taking tak-ing part in party rows and jangles. That resolu- tion wasn't on the programme which had been i prepared for the committee, but it went through, and it is noticeable that the "official organ" hasn't ; even printed the news, up to Thursday morning, ; of that highly interest feature of the committee meeting. |
