Show KEEP IN THE PROCESSION. There are days when the Republicans of Utah should be calling over the old immortal names, Lincoln and Grant and Morton and Blaine and ConkUng, and all the first great array, down to McKinley and Roosevelt, and remembering how they were tried, and that they were tried by the same party which their senior Senator is now trying to deliver them up to. Moreover the principles prin-ciples of that party have not changed since the bugles sounded the reveille at Appomattox. It clings to the same ideas, it nurses the same prejudices, preju-dices, it was a brake on the chariot of progress then, It still is. Since then the Republic has been transformed, but it has fought svery advance. It asks for power now on no achievement, on no proposition of good, but on a bare promise that if given power it will revise its history and. be wise and true. Call out the old names, keep step in the great procession, and cling to the idols out of which the splendors that have come to the Republic Re-public during the past forty years have materialized. |
