Show budon' &iet Mehte'p. The market during the past week has been fairly ictive and prices generally have been at considerable :)f a decline. The trading has been largely con-lined con-lined to the brokers themselves. The impression prevails that during the summer months the market is going to be inactive and for that reason many are expecting lower prices. Wc do not expect them to be very much lower, as it would seem that they had just about reached bottom. The metal market being some stronger should have some little influence on prices. Ajax advanced to 37 but has been selling for a ilay or two at from 34yi to 34 cents. We cannot hear of any new developments at the property. They are only working a small force of men and the shipments are hardly sufficient to take care of their expenses. Carisa has been steadily declining, although the shipments from the property have been about the same as usual. The grade of the ore, however, is quite low, and hardly sufficient to take' care of their expenses and the extensive development work they are doing at the property. We arc assured by the management of the company is out of debt and thai they have a few thousand on hand. Con. Mercur is selling at from $1.87 to $1.90 and seems quite firm at these figures. As an interest paying investment, this is one of the best we have in Utah. The monthly out put of the property is from $13,000 to $150,000. They are paying dividends at the rate of 3 cents a share per month, and are certainly adding quite a little each month to their icserve. The output of the Daly-West last week was very heavy, amounting to 3,50000 pounds. The superintendent superin-tendent of the propetry has stated that during May they have produced about 0,000 tons, which should Hiave amounted to somewhere in the neighborhood of 6200,000. The mine is said to be in excellent con-Milition. con-Milition. We do not expect the dividend to be increased in-creased this month, but think that in the month of July it will be increased to 50 cents a share, or foo,000 per month. j The Dexter has made a shipment of bullion which Hvill make their total shipment for the month of Hlay about $12,000. They are reducing their indebtedness, and, since the stock is selling at Bucli low figures, we jannot help tninking that it Knight to be bought. H The Eagle & Blue Bell is selling at from 87 to H)5 cents and the condition of the property seems to Warrant its purchase. Galena is selling at fronj HO to 20 cents . It is said that this property is look-Hng look-Hng better than it has for a long time. H Lower Mammoth is selling at from $1.20 to $1.25. Ht is claimed that they have uncovered some very Bdcc bodies of ore recently and expect to make Hliipmonts that will net the company a good profit. Bfammoth is firm at from $1.18 to $1.20. Wo do Hot expect any dividends from this property until Hhe litigation with the Grand Central is entirly set-Hied. set-Hied. H May Day, on account of the heavy selling of one of Hhe insiders, which Ave understand was held by one Hf the banks as collateral, has declined to 20 cents. HThis property is more than a prospect, and at this Hrice it is certainly selling at prospect prices. The Hhipments from the property during the month of Hlay amounted to two cars of ore and two of con-Hontrates. con-Hontrates. This should bo sufficient to take care Hf their running expenses. We cannot help feeling Hnat at this price a person would do well to invest. H No. Light is selling at from 4 to 4 cents. On-Hario On-Hario is firm at $8.00. Wo recommend the purchase Hf this stock. They are paying 10 cents a share per Hionth in dividends, or rather 30 cents a share quar-Hprly, quar-Hprly, which is good interest on the investment wher they have such good ore reserve and such a large surplus. It is expected that the Sacramento mill will be completed so that they can start to mill their ore during the present month. With the immense ore bodies in the Sacramento mine to guarantee the investment, in-vestment, we cannot help thinking that the stock should be bought at present quotations, 23 to 24 cents. It is said that the Sunshine mill is successfully treating tneir ore. The stock is selling at from 20 to 27 cents. It will be a long time before the Sunshine Sun-shine can pay any dividends to their shareholders, as the indebtedness of the company must be very large, not only for what was owing before the present pres-ent manager took hold of the property, but also the large amount which has been expended on the property for mine and mill improvements. Wo do not look tor any great advance in this stock for some time. Silver Shield remains firm at from 0 to 7y2 cents. There is nothing new to report from the Star Con. Swansea is firm at former quotations, $1.20 to $1.5,0. South Swansea seems quite weak. Since they will make shipments that will certainly take care of their expenses, we think that the stock at present prices, 33 to 35 cents, is cheap. Utah is selling at 48 to 49 cents. It is quite likely that this company will be able to pay another an-other dividend soon. Uncle Sam has been declining. Tnere has not been any shipments during the last month, and wo fear that in the absence of shipments ship-ments the indebtedness will be increased, so that the directors will think it necessary to levy an assessment. as-sessment. In such an event, Ave Avould see loAver prices. Boss TAvecd sold today at 25 cents. Wo think that the stock is a good investment at this price. They have considerable ore and are systematically developing their property. California has been a mystery. Those acquainted Avith the property and conditions have expected a decline, but, for some reason, the stock remains firm at from 11 to 13 cents. Foreclosure proceedings have been commenced, com-menced, amounting to about $37,000, and there is an additional indebtedness of from $10,000 to $12,000 It would seem to us that unless the shareholders Avould voluntarily contribute to pay off this indebtedness, in-debtedness, the property Avill be lost and the stock decline to very Ioav figures. The efforts that have been made to secure a loan on the property have been unsuccessful. We Avould not recommend the purchase of this stock under present conditions. Century took a toboggan slide yesterday and today, to-day, selling as Ioav as 24 todaj', but closing firm Avith 2Gio bid, offered at 27. It is said that the mill is not successfully treating the ore, and it is rumored that the shareholders Avill be called upon for an assessment to pay off the indebtedness. There seems to be some little uemand for Dalton stock at from 2 to 2 cents. It is said that the Emerald is having one of its periodical strikes, but the assessments continue to bo very regular each month. Joe BoAvers is selling at from 4 to 4 cents. We look upon it as a good speculative stock at this price. La Heine is firm at 11 to 12. It is rumored that the Manhattan has encountered a little oro and the stock is selling at from 1 to 1 cents. Martha Washington has declined and is selling at about 3 cents. This property is avcII located and the Avork is being performed in a miner-like manner. They have a fine hoist and considerable machinery on the ground. It is said that they have a nice shoAving at the mine. We think that the purchase of the stock at these figures Avould prove to be a good one. The Tetro has at last encountored ore in shipping quantities; in fact the reports that come from Tintic !IHH indicate that the property is in excellent condition. IfiHi We hope that ttiis Avil prove true, as many have IHfl been paying assessments on this stock for a num- JiH bcr of years. The stock is selling at from 22 to 24 illH cents. IHl Victor is selling at from 22 to 24 cents. Wo do lH not expect any great advance in tnis stock until SHI their controversy Avith the Boss TAvecd company ifU is adjusted. The Yankee has been selling at from IIR $1.10 to $1.30. The grade of ore that has been sent HH to our market has not been high enough to add fH anything to their treasury, ana the production is 'nlHS only sufficient to pay their running expenses. We flHw do not believe that avc avouM care to buy any of ilHirf the stock at present prices, although it may be ad- InHjl vanced by manipulation. nHD Majestic has been selling at from $3 to $3.50 on !HH this market. We have understood that the promoters 'Hffl of this company are offering the stock in small blocks aMu in several of the eastern cities at tAvice this figure. uVi Daly Judge is selling at from $7 to $7.10. There uB seems to be a feeling that this stock Avill be con- tKf siderably higher before fall. We thinK that an in- Bl! vestment in this stock Avill prove profitable. HH We Avill take pleasure in ansAvering any inquiries. iHl Yours very truly, iBi CHAS. E. HUDSON, ;JH Manager. H |
