H A large crowd was present to hoar Mr. Cannon, and warmly applauded his splendid elocution and M sonorous periods. M The nominations proved that when the lead- jH oi s of the Revenge Society said that they would bo H recruited by defeated candidates from the Repub. ' H lican convention, it was not a vain boast. Four of ' jH the distinguished gentlemen who sought similai il recognition from the Republicans, were named ' HM yesterday for county officers on the bolting ticket jiH The four who drew a consolation prize yesterday H were George L. Nye, who desired to be I H a Republican State Senator, Charles D. 'H Rooklidge, who aspired to the county . M treasureship nomination, Angus McKellar, whose LH pradllictions were for the county recordership and i H F. H. Clark, to whom the office of city justice, . H looked alluring in the Republican convention. Al- jH though with the exception of Mr. McKellar, the M names of the quartette were not presented to tho -M convention, all a few weeks ago were avowed liH aspirants for the exact positions for which they ; ffl were selected yesterday by the Revenge Society.
