Show A TRIBUTE TO JOHN C. CUTLER. H Esteemed Editor: IH I shall appreciate your kindness, if you will give space to the following brief letter: Having read many of the mean flings, in un- Aind words at Mr. John C. Cutler, I take it both as JH a duty and a pleasure to pay a friendly tribute to M this genial and good man. jH A thinker once said: jH "Before the tongue can speak It must have lost its power to wound." H However, certain classes of men make a busi- M ness of writing, and it is nothing to them how jfl thejy wound, or what misery they cause "It's 11 business." If I can only undo just a little of the !H mischief, by stating facts, as to Mr. Cutler, I shall jJH be satisfied. f I was an employee of Mr. John C. Cutler thirty !H years ago, with the old-time firm of Taylor & Cut- 111 ler, and our friendly sky lias never been crossed H by a cloud, from those: days to the present ones. IH I have found John C. Cutler to bo a clear- IH headed, kind-hearted, honest man, giving to those j H whom ho m'eets on life's highway the same privi- ' leges he asks for himself. I k John C. Cutler is a religious man, but what- H ever forms or ceremonies thero may be to that IH religion it is his own private business. '1 Mr. Cutler has an. Intelligent family consist- tr ing of a wife and seven children, three sons jH grown; not a scrub In the) group. All stand erect ! in the sunlight of sterling manhood. His home f life is idoal yet real. jl Mr. Cutler employs many men and with his ! men ho Is a director not a master. He has a , jf balanced head, one that doesn't swell with eveay jiH whiff of success or imaginary honor. John C. jfl Cutler is a gentleman not an autocrat; a faith- ! ful friend not a bolter. Mr. Cutler is not one of the "400." He is one of, H and belongs to the eighty millions. Ho has a ( M character that cannot be washed away by slush il nor permanently injured by slander. Ho has no turned-down pages in his book of life. jil John C. Cutler was nominated for Governor 'H of Utah by the Republican party. He will be elect- JH od by the Republicans on the eighth of November. 'ijl A friend, )JH JOHN P. MEAKIN. JH |
