Show B i The Democrats at their convention on Thurs- jji day nominated a legislative ticket, of which eight B , are Gentiles and five are Mormons. The legisla- B ; ture this year will have the duty of selecting one, B : and possibly two, United States senators. In B . whose hands would they prefer to leave the se- B' lection of men for this distinguished office? B ' i The Americans profess to have a wholesome Bl i fear of Mormon control in the legislature, and yet H if the present plans are carried out, they will as- flK sist in placing the Mormons in overwhelming con- R trol of that body. Plainly, in view of the recent K nominations, this is no time for Gentiles to throw H away their ballots by voting any other than the H Republican ticket. B In voting for the Republican legislative ticket, B Gentiles may have the comforting assurance that B they are voting for men who are beyond the con BB trol of ecclesiastical influences. On the state sen- B atol1 tlcket are George N. Lawrence, Samuel 0. K Parant! topneD H. Love, TWP Wf Gentile whose immunity from church influences is beyond question, and Mr. Love has clearly proven during his former service as state senator, that he is absolutely independent of church control. The ticket for the lower house should be equally acceptable. ac-ceptable. Four only are Mormons, and the remainder re-mainder of the ten nominees are Gentiles who can be trusted to vote according to honest conviction and principle. The tickets should be carefully compared. They speak for themselves. The nomination? are eloquent of the necessity and duty of Republican Gentiles to vote their party ticket at the coming election. |
