Show If the manager of the Tribune had heard what intelligent Republicans, had to say. of the report of the county convention which appeared o.n FrK day morning, he would probably have revised his instructions to the acrobat who produces the political po-litical flapjaoks which appear In that degenerate paper. The report was so grossly colored and exaggerated ex-aggerated that it merely excited jibes and ridicule, and was an adult illustration of the whining, of a whipped cur. It says that "the delegates in the convention who had not been Smootized were as helpless in the catches of the ecclesiastical politicians .of the dominant church as a mouse," etc. We wonder how that sounds to I. M. Fisher old Mont who fought church influence with the Liberal party when the present management of the Tribune, was in swaddling clothes, arid who can still indulge in a drastic epigram on the subject sub-ject when he thinks it Is oalled for. And. how will P. P. Christensen, P. O. Perkins, W. O. Carbls, Chris DIehl and E. D. Miller like the imputation that they became slaves to Smoot In order tP secure se-cure their nominations? And it is this paper and the mendacious crew behind it which asks Gentiles to believe in the patriotism and purity of the motives which inspired in-spired the birth of the American party. |
