Day fadeth into night; And still with outstretched, tireless wing, Danger unheeding, Onward thou'rt speeding, Whither, ah, whither? I I Art thou intrepid pioneer, s That leads the pathless way j To some bright, sunlit iiome, afar J From darksome winter day? 1 Or, laggard-like, hast lingered near i Some fav'rlte marsh or fen, i Beyond the sight or ken 1 Of mortal eye? . 1 5 Until, with shrill cry of alarm, Thou'st found thyself alone With dark'ning skies and winter's ' chill, " q Mates and companions flown. With swifter pinions art thou blest? J And canst thou overtake Thy mates, and hope to make With them thy home? 1 Ah, tireless wanderer! who guides m Thy lonely, weary way? Dost follow unknown star that leads I Thee on to cloudless day? J Dost feel some wise, unerring sight M That watches o'er thy pathless flight, m That thou 'mid storm and darkest M night, 9 Undaunted, strong, without affright, I Thy way pursuest? W Hush! eagor questioner; nor seek aj Life's mysteries to unfold! M Enough that One doth hold In witdom and in love, f The universe above, 9 Beneath, around us all, j And naught Is great, and naught Is j small M To Love Omnipotent! m From the Public. gfl o B |
