Show Police Action Results In Return of Gun John Talbot, Panguitch, reported a new 357 magnum gun stolen on the evening of Feb. 23. The weapon was taken in the late evening hours from his pickup truck parked outside his home. He reported the theft immediately to Panguitch City Police giving a complete description of the gun as well as the serial number. Panguitch City Police forwarded all information to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) in Washington, D.C. The gun was subsequently located in Idaho, having been picked up by a law enforcement officer at a roadside stop. It was identified by its serial number and within the week returned to Talbot by Panguitch City Police. The weapon had never been fired and still contained the original four cartridges. car-tridges. Panguitch City Police stressed the importance of keeping accurate records of serial numbers of all guns and also emphasized that Talbot's prompt report of the theft contributed importantly to the success of the investigation. |
