Show t .V. J- , - The Panguitch Bobcats took on Piute the last day of the Region tournament in Richfield and beat them 65-54, which put them in third place on Saturday evening. The Bobcats then had a play-off game with East Carbon on Monday night, beating them 80-27, which put them in the state playoffs that started Wednesday. Bobcats And Mustangs To State By John Yardley Milford defeated Valley 51-50 Saturday night to win the boys Region 15 Tournament at Richfield High School. Milford led in the ' fourth quarter 44-26 before the Buffs stormed back to tie the game 44-44. It was an incredible turn of events in a championship game. The Tigers rallied back to take a one point lead with seven seconds to go, but Valley had the ball out of bounds. Alas, however, the Buffaloes Buf-faloes never got a shot off and the Tigers won. Panguitch defeated Piute the final fi-nal day 65-54 to finish third in the tournament. The Bobcats led Friday Fri-day night against Milford in the semi-finals, but let the Tigers scored 31 fourth quarter points and saw their third straight trip to the finals slip away 63-56. In the victory vic-tory over Piute, Aeey Burningham came up with 17 huge points to lead the Bobcats. Dusty Orton, Jaycen Walter and Skyler Dalton all hit for 13. Orton suffered a minor concussion concus-sion at the end of the third quarter and missed the remainder of the game. On Friday, Orton drilled 21 ' and Dalton went for 14. Panguitch led that game every quarter, but the last. The first day, the Bobcats defeated de-feated Escalante 77-53. Dusty Orton Or-ton hit three three-pointers on his way to 22 points. Jason Waller hit 16, Adam Howard 9 and Skyler Dalton 8 in this one. For the Mo-quis, Mo-quis, Derrick Shakespcar got it going go-ing with 18, while Ivan Singh hit three from downtown and finished with 11. Mike Wheeler scored 7, Terrence Mitchell 5 and Jared Woolsey 4. Bryce Valley lost the first day 82-69 to eventual champion Milford Mil-ford in a game that was close the first half. Shannon Pollock pumped in 21 and Wayne Ott 20 to go along with 11 from Cole Twitchell. Lucas Ramsey scored 8. Bryce Valley Ili gh School performed well in file Region 15 basketball tournament, beating Escalante the second day for the chance to make it to state. They lost the third day to Wayne, which put them in sixth place, but played Tintic on Monday in a playoff game and assured themselves a spot at the stat e competition in Cedar City. Four players were in double figures for BV as Lucas Ramsey shot in 20, Shannon Pollock 19, Wayne Ott 12 and Cole Twitchell 10. For the Bobcats, who started the game on a 19-2 run and played their whole team generously, Brett Sawyer hit for 12, Adam Howard 1 1 and Skyler Dalton nailed 10. |
