Show Lewis Thad Haas .- . .- f i i ! i r , i Lewis Haas TROPIC Lewis Thad Haas, 76, of Tropic, passed away Feb. 18, 2000 in Panguitch. He was bom March 28, 1923 in Douglas, Wyo., to Edgar K. and Carrie Mae Arnold Haas. He married Helma Richards, Sept. 14, 1942 in North Hollywood, Holly-wood, Calif. He was a veteran of WWII and also was a prisoner of war. Before he retired, he worked many years as an electrician. He is survived by his wife, Helma of Tropic; children, Kenneth L. (Susan) Haas, of Minden, Nev., LuCine L. (Richard) Fox of Tustin, Calif., Elaine A. Haas of Tropic; eight grandchildren; 1 1 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lida Lehman and Esther Castle; brothers, Darrell Haas and Cene F. Haas who was killed in action during WWII. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2000 in the Tropic LDS Ward Chapel with Bishop Scott Barton officiating. The family prayer was offered by Michael Fox, a grandson and prelude and postlude music was played by Cheri Feltner. The invocation invo-cation was offered by LaMar Le-Fevre, Le-Fevre, a friend. v . . . .'I The congregation sang "O My Father," accompanied by Cheri Feltner and directed by Bonnie Miles. Tributes were given by LuCine Fox, a daughter and Kathy Shumway, a sister-in-law. Susan Haas, a daughter-in-law, sang "Amazing Grace," accompanied accompa-nied by Cheri Feltner and a tribute was given by Tim Feltner, a grandson. grand-son. Remarks were made by Bishop . Scott Barton and the women's choir sang "How Great Thou Art," accompanied ac-companied by Cheri Feltner and directed by Bonnie Miles. The benediction was offered by Tim Leech, a grandson. Pallbearers were Wayne Fox, Michael Fox, Gary Fox, Tim Leech, Greg Leech, Steven Feltner, Fred Dalley, and Chad Haas. Honorary pallbearers were Ryan Feltner, Brian Fox, Tate Leech, Nyle Richards, Floyd Richards, Warren Sheets, and Don Henderson. Burial was in the Tropic Cemetery Ceme-tery with military rites by the Bryce Valley American Legion Post 18. Compassionate services were rendered ren-dered by the Tropic LDS Ward Relief Re-lief Society sisters. Funeral directors: Neal S. Ma-gleby Ma-gleby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. Ben Frank Haws EXETER, Calif. Ben Frank Haws, Ph D, passed away at his home in, Calif., Thursday, Feb. 17, 2000., at the age of 67, after a lengthy struggle with lung disease. He was born in Escalante, Utah, Dec. 25, 1932 to Claud Emmorn and Nan Nelson Haws. He graduated from Brigham Young High School in 1951 and from Brigham Young University in 1960. He served an LDS mission to the Central States in 1953-55. He then served in the U.S. Navy 1955-57. He also enrolled at the University of Utah where he received his masters degree in social work in 1962. He worked in that capacity at the Utah State Hospital in Provo, Utah, and later in the Maricopa County Mental Health Department in Phoenix, Ariz. He later returned to BYU and graduated in 1972 with his PhD in clinical psychology before moving with his family to Visalia, Calif., where he was employed by the Kings View Corporation, and later with Tulare County until he retired in 1994. He is survived by his beloved wife Jackie Haws whom he married in the Ogden LDS temple; a daughter Chemene Haws, Laramie, Wyo.; sons, Frank McKinley Haws and Kent Minor (Frances) Haws, Exeter, Calif.; stepchildren, Candi (Paul) Houghton, Visalia, Calif.; Stephanie (Matthew) Morello, Exeter, Calif.; six grandchildren; and one brother, J.C. (Eva) Haws, Brigham City, Utah. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 22 in Exeter, Calif. Thomas "CaT Geurin Thomas Calvin "Cal" Geurin of Panguitch, Utah, passed away Feb. 9, 2000 at the home of his son Brad in Lomita, Calif. He was born in Bonnie Terrie, Mo., on Jan. 1, 1921 and married Marvelle DePriest on Sept. 11, 1938 in Yuma, Ariz. This marriage was solemnized in the Los Angeles LDS temple on July 27, 1979. He and Marvelle moved to Pan-guitch Pan-guitch from Lomita in 1980. His wife preceded him in death. He is survived by three sons: Dennis Calvin Geurin of Huntington Beach, Calif.; Bradley Allen (Nancy Geurin) of Lomita, Calif.; and Robert Eugene (Karen) Geurin of Harbor City, Calif.; six grandchildren grand-children and seven greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Feb. 14, 200 and interment was in the Green Hills Memorial Park, Palos VerdesLCalif. |
