Show 4th Graders Learn Of Intrigue Of The Past9 By Vicki D. Syrett On Oct. 2 and 3, the fourth graders in the Garfield School District met to hold the annual two day "Utah's Past and Present - Intrigue of the Past". They learn of the Native Americans and Pioneers of the past and how they contributed to the present. Without the wonderful volunteers volun-teers this workshop would not be possible. Some of the local volunteers included Debbie Cantu of the Natural History Association at Bryce Canyon, Duztin and Sara Sorenson of Henrieville, Joey Comp of Kodachrome State Park, ' Jan Stock and James Woolsey of Bryce Canyon National Park, Lisa Westwood of Anasazi State Park, Arda Hepworth and Cindy Nez of Panguitch, and Tammi Syrett of BryceRuby's Inn. Cindy Micheli of Capitol Reef Npational Park; Mary Lou, Laura, and Chauncey Melling of Cedar City; Ed Jarrett of Kingston; Craig Harmon of the Bureau of Land Management in Richfield; Matthew Zwickert of the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in Kartab; and Patty Ann Dominguez of Henderson, Nev., also contributed con-tributed to the success of the special event where the students learned about flintknapping, rocks, geology, plants, ancient cultures, petroglyphs and pic-tographs, pic-tographs, heard Native American Stories, and so much more. |
