Show Tropic ?:n By Lynn Munson j 679-8627 . , Speakers in Tropic LDS Ward j sacrament meeting were recently j released members of the Relief , Society presidency. Marie Pollock, , Cheryl Pollock and Spring Seiler , all gave excellent talks. ; Former resident Elfonda Sud- j weeks Bronnum, daughter of Ralph j and Ada Sudweeks, died in Piano, . Texas on June 10 after a lingering , illness. Her three older brothers and ; their spouses are Cloyd Sudweeks, St George; Lynden and Giovanna Sudweeks, Tropic; and Weldon and Carma Sudweeks, St. George. Elfonda left a husband and four j children. Many remember her as , an energetic, happy girl with a , mischievous smile. We send our , sympathy to the family. Weldon and Carma Sudweeks spend several days each week at . their trailer in Tropic. Weldon is ; raising a garden here and they're escaping the St. George heat. . Orlan Ruesch is out of LDS ; hospital in Salt Lake City after , spending two weeks recuperating from heart bypass surgery. He and Ferriland are with their daughter and i son-in law Jerry and Dave Mumford . in Salt Lake City. This is won- ' erful news and we hope to see both , Orlan and Ferriland back home soon. , Florene Sudweeks and Minnie . Neilson spent last weekend visiting and checking on Ida Harmon and her grandson. Bob and Yelta Harmon and their youngest son were in 29 Palms, Calif., for the graduation of a family member. Anita Melton of Henderson. Nev., spent the weekend with her parents Derell and Sarah Lou Sudweeks, sister Florene and brother and sister-in-law Bob R and , Amanda Sudweeks. j Glade Stewart of Boulder City, J Nev., was visiting here with his ' mother Leona Stewart. He also helped his brothers Duane Stewart and Max Stewart move their cattle to Pine Lake. There were many . other families engaged in the same , activity. , The annual LDS Mothers and , Daughters party was held at the . town park and was well attended. ; There were three-month-old babies ; and all ages in between up to more ; than 80 years old participating. The Relief Society sent the invitations, the Primary prepared i the dinner, and the Young Womens i organization presented the program. A four-generation family: McKoye . Mecham wrote a poem to her , mother Merrilee Mecham, who paid tribute to her mother Peggy j Palmer, who surprised her mother . DelRae Pollock with a loving tribute that left not a dry eye in the bowery. There was a beautiful ' musical number sung by April i LeFevre and daughter Leslie. Lisa ! Pollock and daughter Kayla, and S Rhea Dearden and daughter Dana. Happy Birthday was sung to Glenda Feltner and everyone had a terrific (See TROPIC on page 9-A) f TROPIC From Page 6-A evening. There was a large group of loving family members and old friends here for the funeral of Ira Littlefield. The children of Ira and Agnes Littlefield: Rose Marie (McKay) (Mc-Kay) Bailey, Marion (Catherine) Littlefield, Linda (Robert) Gates, and Edwin (Nancy) Littlefield, as well as grandsons Thomas bailey and Mitch Littlefield all took part in the program. It was a beautiful service for a special man who will be sorely missed. Our love and sympathy to the family. James and Susan Littlefield of San Francisco and Steve and Nancy Littlefield of Farmington and their two grandchildren Allyson and Davis were here to stay with their mother Sara Littlefield. They all attended the funeral for their uncle Ira. Louie Shakespear's daughters, Jeanette Coleman of Orderville, Thelma Slaugh of Salt Lake City, and Mary Jo Beatty of Cedar City were here for their uncle Ira's funeral. Their mother Louie spent several weeks in a Salt Lake City hospital and is staying with a daughter up north until she regains her strength. We all hope she will have speedy recovery. Joe Ott was here for the funeral and later had lunch and visited with his sister Rella Alvey. Wallace and Mary Ott's daughters daugh-ters Marilyn Murdock, St. George; Irene Emmett, Veyo; and Kathy Davis and children Cody and Tiera, Toquerville; all attended the funeral, as did Mary's sister Eliza Porter of Idaho and Wallace's sister Rose. Olson of Orem. The three girls stayed the rest of the week helping Wallace on the East Fork and Mary in the garden and doing some quilting. They spent a busy week. Among the family members at the funeral were Royce and Suzanne Griffin and Ron and JoAnn Otte-son. Otte-son. Also seen were Weldon Le-Fevre, Le-Fevre, Monroe and Fonetta Barney of Richfield. There were many other oth-er family members and friends attending at-tending whose names I missed. Visiting with the Mondell Sy-rett Sy-rett family was Susan Slater of Las Vegas. Mondell and Florence and family and Moyle and Tracy Johnson John-son will be in Phoenix. Ariz., on the June 23 to watch their daughters Sydney and April receive their bachelor's bach-elor's degrees in accounting. The children of James and La-rene La-rene Munson met at the town park (See TROPIC on page 10-A) TROPIC j From Page 9-A for their family reunion. There were Lloyd and Ella Colvin, North Ogden; Scott and Maxine Munson, Parowan, and 1 1 kids and grandkids; Dahl and Elaine Brown, Aurora, and their four children; and Mark and Sharon Munson, Panguitch, and their seven kids and grandkids for a total of 49 family members. Richard Rich-ard Munson and family were unable to attend. They all still enjoy coming com-ing back home to Tropic. Kent and Betty Wintch's daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law Pam and Randall Spencer from Longmont, Colo., were here during the week. Pam took her parents to Salt Lake City where Betty received a favorable report on her broken neck. On the way home, they stopped at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo to see their new little great-grandson Christopher Charles Spencer who was born prematurely weighing only 1 pound 3 ounces. He is the son of Randy Kent and Alice Spencer of Springville, Adrian and Glenna Pollock had their family reunion at Tropic Reservoir with over 20 members there. Children Garnell and Peggy Pollock and family, Grant and Darlene LeFevre and family, all of Bountiful; Hazel Sanders and friend, and son and daughter-in-law Tyrell and Kelly Sanders; Brian and Jenna Cloward, and Royce Pollock and sons of Panguitch all enjoyed the weekend. |
