Riggs PANGUITCH Jay Angus Riggs, '84, of Panguitch, our beloved be-loved husband, father, brother, uncle, un-cle, grandfather, and friend, passed away, Jan. 8, 2000 at Garfield Memorial Me-morial Hospital, Panguitch. He was born Feb. 18, 1915 in Summit, to Jackson Angus and Mildred Dalley Riggs. An exemplary member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-- Latter-- day Saints, he married Myrtle Gardiner, Sept. 3, 1940 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They spent 52 wonderful years together. She preceded pre-ceded him in death July 1, 1992. He lived most of his life in Panguitch, attending school there, as well as at Branch Agricultural College in Cedar City. He was co-owner co-owner of the Service Cash Market. Prior to his lifetime vocation, he herded sheep with his father and grandfather, drove truck, and was a talented meat cutter. He was always neat in his appearance and particular in all that he did. He held many positions in the LDS church including bishop of the South Ward, counselor in two stake presidencies, and most recently as a Panguitch Stake patriarch. He particularly par-ticularly enjoyed his calling as scout master to several generations of young men and received the Silver Sil-ver Beaver award. He also enjoyed fulfilling his calling as a home teacher and singing in the ward choir for many years. He was a dedicated husband, father fa-ther and grandfather. He loved his home and his family and always reached out to help others. He was a wonderful neighbor and friend to young and old alike. He was involved in various civic organizations including the local hospital board and the district school board. He is survived by three sons, ' ( s V A Jay A Riggs four daughters and their spouses: Fred G. Riggs of Jacksonville, Fla.; Joseph W. (Jean) Riggs of Concord, Calif.; Ron (Karleta) Riggs, and Pamela (John) Yardley, both of Panguitch; Patricia (Howard) Foy of Ponca City, Okla.; Kathleen Riggs of Enoch; Martha (Blaine) Ipson of Delta; 31 grandchildren; 1 1 greatgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne (Curtie) Riggs; sisters: Hazel (Clarence) Cameron, Fern (Harry, deceased) Morris; sister-in-law, Elna( Shirl) Fox; brother-in-law, H. Frank Orton. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Jay A. Riggs, Jr.; sister, Gwen, brothers: Austin and Jack. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000 at 1 p.m. in the Panguitch LDS Stake Cen- , ter. Burial was in the Panguitch Cemetery. Funeral directors: Neal S.
