Show Open Letter To Garkane Members Garkane Power's articles of incorporation require that the number of voting members in each district be adjusted periodically so that the number of voters in each district are approximately equal. You may recall that a directormember committee was formed in February of 1998 to study the issue and make recommendations. recom-mendations. In February of 1999, the committee recommended to the board that a 9th district be added in the southern area. The board's vote on the recommendation did not achieve the required two-thirds majority to amend the by-laws in order to establish a 9th district. The board subsequently voted to take the membership for vote. . On Dec. 27, Garkane's independent indepen-dent attorney informed the board of directors that to amend the by-laws of the corporation we must secure 10 percent of the members' signatures on a petition which details the addition of a 9th district. The petition must be filed, with Garkane by Jan. 20. The petition is being distributed to the directors and to local businesses. Please either go to a local business busi-ness or contact your director and sign the petitions that are now being distributed. In Panguitch, petitions are available at Welcome Mart and Panguitch Drug. In Hatch, petitions peti-tions are available at all local businesses. A petition is available at Rubys Inn. Petitions are' available avai-lable in Tropic at Doug's Place, Bob Ott's Pizza Place and the Garfiejd County News. In Cannon-ville, Cannon-ville, a petition is available at Thompson's Bryce Valley Builders located at the Grand Staircase Inn. Boulder and Escalante residents may visit their local businesses or contact their director Marjie Lee Spencer. Your help is very important and very much appreciated! Hugh L.
