Show EMTs Honored For Their Help ESCALANTE In August of 1994 Bill Tackett, Grand Junction, Colo.died after his motorcycle went over the guard rail and an embankment embank-ment at Calf Creek, just above the campgrounds. The Escalante Emergency Medical Technicians had worked with Tackett for nearly forty-five minutes that fateful day while awaiting life flight transport. The trauma patient succumbed only five minutes before the helicopter arrived. A year later, in August 1995, Tackett's wife, Polly came to Utah to see where he had met his death and learn more about his accident. Stanley and Marlene, Stowe spent three or four hours with Mrs. Tackett, showing her the location and explaining in detail what had happened. She left following her visit feeling better after having heard the whole story. Just one week ago Polly Tackett sent a check for $1 ,000 to Escalante EMT's in appreciation for all they had done for her husband. She wanted them to use the money for training and equipment for the area ambulance. Sometimes we fail to appreciate the excellent medical assistance rendered ren-dered in Garfield County out in the field. All area EMTs are commended com-mended for their dedication and sac- . rifices. |
