Show By Mamie Talbot 676-8084 On Sunday, the speakers in Panguitch Third Ward LDS Sacrament Sac-rament meeting were D'Lynn Poll of the Stake Young Women's presidency and Roger Westwood of the High Council. , LaMar Worthen died in Las Vegas, Nev. He was here during the summer then went to Las Vegas Ve-gas for the winter. His funeral was here on Feb. 19. His dear wife Clara is deceased and he was buried beside her here. Our love goes to their kids Scott, Maurine, Karen, Jerry and Etta.- We hear that the workers at the Frandsen sawmill have greatly increased and they are putting out a lot of lumber. Speakers in Panguitch 2nd Ward Sacrament meeting were High Council representatives Terry Barney and Dale Baldwin. Youth speaker was Sandy Veater. The ward choir sang "I Feel My Father's Love" with solos by Laura Pierson and Orton Talbot. Gwen and Clark Frandsen are back from a visit with their daughter Sherrie. Margaret Frandsen went to Salt Lake City for a medical check-up on her knees. Mable Harris has been in Cedar City for several days where she is recovering from surgery. Marjorie Bee is in the local hospital with a broken hip. In Panguitch Sacrament meeting meet-ing on Sunday, Devon Owens was sustained a member of the Panguitch Pan-guitch Stake High Council. Orton Talbot was ordained a High Priest. Greg Payne is the new counselor of the Care Center Branch. The Paynes are moved into their beautiful new home in the northwest corner of town. He recently went north to get the materials to finish the house and to visit his mother. Eric Packer, the new hospital administrator and his family have moved into a new split level house in the subdivision south of KOA on the Panguitch Lake road. Max and Loa Sevy went to San Diego to visit family members. mem-bers. Bob and Juanita Smith spent time in Quartzite, Ariz. They saw Miles and Esther Barney, Jake and Peggy Bagnell and Bill and Sarah Kay. Barbara Orton and Mamie Talbot each spent a night in the local hospital. Here visiting Mamie were Alan Talbot, Enoch; Dennis and Karen T. Williams, South Jordan and Richard and Marilyn Talbot and family of Orem. Dani, Jazmine, Laycee, Caitlyn, Sessily, Bridger and Brigham Talbot all enjoyed being at grandma Mamie's to play in the snow and shop in a small town store and ride around town while dad Richard told them what he did as a boy here. On Lincoln's birthday, Feb. 12, great-grandparents Pat and Iletta Dix and grandma Robbie Irish journeyed to West Valley City to visit Kristy and Johnny Gann to help little Trevin Gann celebrate his first birthday. Dana Crosby, wife of the late Evan Crosby, and little Jake Crosby came from the north to spend the weekend with grandma Maxine Crosby. Lane Crosby kept a medical appointment up there and was released to go back to work after recovering from a broken leg for three months. The last of a series of Spelling Bees at the Panguitch Elementary School was held on Feb. 18. The 4th to 6th grades were involved in the contests. The following students stu-dents came out on top: Nicole Dastrup, daughter of Paul and Denise Dastrup; Candace Crofts, daughter of Richard and Marianne Crofts; Craig Perkins, son of Lance and Cindy Perkins; Cameron Cam-eron Henrie, son of Allen and Jeannie Henrie; Sara Woolsey, daughter of Craig and Marilyn Twithcell and Joel Dodds, son of Bud and Julie Dodds. Nicole took first place and Candace took second. sec-ond. They represented Panguitch Elementary at the District Spelling Spell-ing Bee in Escalante. Last week, the sewer system at Panguitch Elementary School backed up, so when the students arrived at school on Thursday, they were sent home for the last two days of the week. Guess it's time for the school to be hooked up to the new sewer system as well as the rest of us who haven't yet got our system hooked . up. We've been waiting for spring. Hooray! The robins are back. Just about the time the only big snow storm of the year hit. The little calves have been dropping this past month. Spring hasn't forgotten us. Bob Benfield called from Arizona Ari-zona to say that his father, Edward Ed-ward Benfield had his 106th t birthday. They had a little party for him and he is doing well. The Benfields will be late getting home this year. Bob is scheduled for hip surgery on May 4 and will have to stay and recuperate for a time. Good luck, folks. Bob said it will be the first and only time he has ever been in a hospital except for being in the local hospital hos-pital for board meetings. Merle Stowell had her great-nephew great-nephew David Furlong and wife here from Wyoming. David is the son of Aleta Proctor Furlong's son Paul. Speakers in Panguitch 2nd Ward LDS Sacrament Meeting were Teresa Hatch, daughter of Randy and Debbie Hatch and Elders Elliot Brinkerhoff and Casey Ca-sey Nulet, who reported their mis- . sions. At the Utah Music Educators Association 26th Annual Awards Banquet in St. George, Pan-guitchite Pan-guitchite Sandra Crofts Holman was named "Outstanding Elementary Elemen-tary Music Educator of the Year". Sandra grew up in Panguitch and is the daughter of John and Marjorie Mar-jorie Crofts. Her husband is Wayne Holman. She is a graduate gradu-ate of Brigham Young University and is currently teaching at Farmington Elementary. She has taught voice, dance, recorder, ukulele, piano and is a classroom teacher. Sandra feels that every child should have the opportunity to experience music on a daily basis. Russell and Marilyn Bulkley are thrilled at the birth of their - first two grandchildren: a boy to Sherrie Turner and husband and a girl to Christy Holland and husband. hus-band. Great-grandparents here are Otho and Shirley Bulkley and Art and Wenda Mae Tebbs, great-great-grandmothers are Savalla Sanford and Lena Daly. Mable Harris is home following follow-ing surgery Valley View Medical Center. Her daughter from Idaho Falls has been here helping her mom. Alta Orton spent two weeks in Salt Lake City with family. She made it home just in time to miss the big snow of the season up there. |
