Show Jj W ,w Tanner Wilcock and Jason Jefferson, Panguitch, both participated in the American Mountain Bike Classic finals held in St George. Jefferson brought home a second place win and Wilcock took another first place win this year with a time of 5 minutes 11 seconds. Young Panguitch Men Participate In Downhill Mountain Bike Race PANGUITCH Two Panguitch Pan-guitch young men, Tanner Wilcock and Jason Jefferson, both bitten by the mountain biking bug, participated partici-pated in the downhill races of the American Mountain Bike Classic (AMBC) finals held on Saturday, Oct. 30 in St. George. Jefferson brought home a second place in the beginner category with a time of 6 minutes 13 seconds. Wilcock was a returning first place champion from last years competition and again brought home top honors taking first with a time of 5 minutes 1 1 seconds. The fastest course time of 4 minutes 56 seconds was set by a pro racer. Wilcock took third fastest fast-est time overall. Both young'men are sponsored by local bike shops and supported enthusiastically by proud parents and grandparents. Jefferson is sponsored locally by Mountain Bike Heaven in Panguitch Pan-guitch and owner Steve Smeeth. Wilcock is sponsored by Cedar Cycle, Cy-cle, whose owner and chief mechanic, me-chanic, Brian Jeppson, "is not only a veteran but a real class act," ac cording to Wilcock. . Wilcock credits his faith in God for his natural ability and parents Ralph and Sheri Wilcock of Panguitch Pan-guitch with encouraging and supporting sup-porting him both emotionally and financially in a sport that can become be-come cosdy with travel and bike repairs. He thanks grandparents Henry and Tanya Thomas of Panguitch Pan-guitch as well for their gracious financial backing to what he hopes will be a long and satisfying career. |
